Ready to fly....off the nest anyway

I know that I must be a little stressed. In about a week we fly about as far from home as we can get to bring home a little boy that we really know very little about. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled but one of the by products of this stress and nesting is weight gain. The scales dont really show much gain but my clothes do! I won't have any pants to wear next week (at least not any I want to be in for the 19 hour trip over) if something doesn't change.

A friend that went through this last year told me it was normal...and that we will all lose weight the first week together. I guess I will just have some baby weight to lose just like we were having a biological son. Hope he likes the stroller because when we get home I plan on getting outside and enjoying the NC Spring....which should be here by now!

For the ones left behind....

I read for every child adopted from China, three will be left and raised in the orphanages. My generous quilting buds have helped me to take these quilts and blankets to leave behind. My request will be that these go to children who most likely won't have the opportunity to find a forever family at the orphanage in Kaifeng. Go Postal especially loved the one with the Cars characters

I will make sure these are all delivered. And just think of the space I will have for the return (maybe I will find a quilt shop along the way).

Just got travel approval. We should be heading to China the first week in April. Go Postal's birthday is April 5 maybe we can celebrate standing on the Great Wall!

Go Postal Still at Home at 7am??

The post office has had trouble getting the mail to Boonville on time. So instead of fixing the problem upstream they told the carriers to start an hour later every day. Now mind you they didn't slide the time back that they have to be done....that's one bright government agency! But this might not be so bad for me, just look at him unloading the dishwasher this am!!!

Happy Birthday Gettys

Our buddy Gettys celebrated his birthday yesterday surrounded by some of his ski club friends. He could use everyone's prayers as he has suspended chemo and radiation treatments and elected to receive only palliative care.

Itchy Business

After months of annoying skin and scalp issues I am finally going to get tested for allergies on Monday. I guess they don't prick you anymore but put a series of patches on you with concentrated irritants I wear them 48 hours before they are removed. So I may look like Baloo next week trying to soothe the itch. Hope to get this figured out before we leave for China!
