Its time to learn the secrets of cleaning an iron. Mine has travelled a lot lately and I am not sure if this is a build up of starch or what, but its starting to leave some yuck on light fabrics.
Well, let me add something completely different. I like the hot iron cleaner but it's smelly adn dangerous(the iron is HOT after all) I have been trying the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. I wet it just a little and rub the bottom of the COLD iron and so far (I've done it or 4 times) it seems to be working just fine. After I scrub the bottom of the COOL iron, I would iron an old towel or something to make sure no residue gets on your good stuff.
Wife, Daughter, Sister, Aunt...new Mommy. Love to hike, bike, ski and quilt but find myself lately reading stories, washing bottles and doing more laundry! Not complaining though...being an older Mom I know how fast these days will go.

Dritz iron-off Hot Iron Cleaner. Follow the directions on the tube, I swear by the stuff... it's available at our LQS!
Yep. It's the best stuff! And you know me and fusible web...I keep a tube on the ironing board!
A dryer sheet will take most goo off a hot iron.
I have also heard that salt on a brown paper bag (grocery, not lunch) works very well. Good luck, you'll be happy with your clean iron.
