What is a family?

This question was asked of each of Wade's three year old class after learning about families this week....

His response:  It's when I was born, my Mommy works at Krispy Kreme

I hope someday he truly feels like the day we three met was some type of birthday for our family...for now I know he is proud of where I work. You gotta love the heart of a three year old

Spring chores...

I do enjoy Spring but here in NC the pollen gets a bit overwhelming for me. Wade helped me wash my car and Grandpa Lindigs old truck, then his car! In an hour I could see pollen back on the hoods

We got the garden  planted with all kinds of yummy things now must get a fence up quick or the rabbits and deer will reap our bounty.

Sunday found Wade and I on a hike with Sam and Max. Both Daddy's are fighting colds and stayed home. The boys did great and hikes a total of three miles after the initial scraps over who got to be the line leader on the trail. We made it out to Wolf Rock and back, joining up with Ken and others from the ski club.

Oh and the big boy underwear thing didn't make much progress. I don't think he anticipates going at all. Mike demonstrated peeing on a tree (what little boy can resist). Wade would get all ready then make a hissing sound with his mouth like he was going. Oh well....

Our 2 year Anniversary as a Family

Hard to believe the changes we have seen in this little man in two years!  Of course he has changed our lives too and I am having tons of fun on this adventure.

Once he is older we will take the opportunity to reflect on China and our first gotcha day with him....and can share a few gifts that we bought for him while over there. But for now, he was pretty excited to get a new Snoopy and Woodstock bank for his room.

Easter 2015

We had double duty this weekend as Mike's birthday fell on Easter. We made cookies for a Relay fundraiser and saw a car show at Krispy Kreme on Friday. We then got a babysitter on Saturday so we could take a Segway tour....something Mike has always wanted to try. Dinner with Ken and Pat then all of the Easter stuff on Sunday. The house didnt get cleaned, but lots of memories were made.

The Easter Bumny brought Wade a fox from the Bumnies by the Bay folks in Anacotes. I went to their store when they were just a startup and when I found out about their red thread collection that benefited China orphanages I knew Wade needed his next friend from there. It's really cute and soft!

Salt Lake 2015

Wade went with us as we did a shortened ski trip to the Salt Lake area. He is a good little traveller

Mike got sick and missed our first day at Brighton and the second day at Snowbird has really bad visibility so I am sure we didn't see the best that mountain had to offer.

But the last two days were glorious blue sky days at Solitude.

The very last run of the last day they guys talked some of us less experienced (or brave) skiers into a run down Honeycomb canyon. It was a black diamond, but I trusted Mike to tell me if he thought it was too hard (I know he doesn't want to be a single dad hee hee). It was spectacular back there!!

We ended our trip with a visit from Uncle Fred, ️Aunt Nancy and cousin Tanner who live in Rock Springs Wy.  I hate I didn't get a picture of them.   We were out to dinner when Wade waved and said hello to a stranger (he is very random and just wants to say hi sometimes). This man was a little scruffy but came back to the table wanting to buy Wade a dessert he said anytime a child acknowledges him he takes it as affirmation that they see the good and he would like to return thanks. How could we say no.....

Wade didn't try skiing yet, but Inthinknitnlio will the next time we head out West. For now he was happy to be at the on mountain childcare facilities and playing in the "no"

So now I am ready for flip flops and getting out on our bicycles and doing some hikes. Spring has sprung in NC!

Valentine's in Georgia

This year Valentines and Presidents Day fell on the same weekend so we took advantage of Mike's Monday off and headed to Georgia for a visit. Wade had fun with Gray Gray and his little step cousin Mary from England who was also visiting!

Poor Mike, not too romantic of a Valentines Day.....we ate catfish for dinner at Rays Mill Pond. He gave me a cycling jersey with a map of the Hawaiian islands. Possibly to motivate me to ride more???? I will I hope as the triathlon is mid August and I have a long way to go.

I also took it as a "let's go back someday". We only spent time on Maui and I would love to see Pearl Harbor and Volcanoes National Park.

We drove home as a snowstorm hit. It going to be very cold all week. Wade is still more of a beach boy than snow bunny but he still has a trip to Salt Lake coming up in a few weeks so it's not time to break out the sandals just yet. Thanks ️Aunt Mary for watching Wade on this snow day!

Now that we are done with the flu and our trip to Georgia I just have one business trip before head to the Mid Atlantic Quilt festival for one night. Yes this mama is looking forward to a little quilty R&R !!!!

Two new Skiers in the family!

We gave Alden and Landon a day skiing for their Christmas gift this year. Appalachian Ski Mountain it was on MLK Monday. Weather and snow conditions were great and it wasn't as crowded as we feared. We started with a lesson with Mr Ken then had the afternoon to practice.
️Aunt Mary kept Wade occupied in the lodge and he liked watching all the activity too!

By the end of the day Landon had this run!  Great progress for the very first time on skiis

Maybe we can make this a Christmas gift tradition!!
