Happy Chinese New Year

2014 is the year of the horse. Max just brought a gift bag with fortune cookies, stickers and a stuffed horse to give to Wade as a CNY gift. They will be traveling with us to ski in Colorado and I hope they do well together. Max is about 18 months older than Wade but they are beginning to interact and play together some.

Max calls Wade his China brother. I am grateful they will each have a buddy growing up that looks like them and shares their Chinese heritage.

Growing

Wade can not comfortably nap in the pac n play anymore his head is pressed into the mesh side. So today we let him sleep on the sofa in the barn and used the pnp as makeshift bed rails!  Thankfully the crib still holds him at night!

Who's been playing around my sewing machine?

I sat down to stitch the last row onto Wade's 100 wishes quilt to see a tractor hiding behind the needle.....  My quilt studio is fast becoming a tax office for Mike and a playroom for Wade. Just exactly what I hoped would become of this room when his builder suggested adding 6' to the height of the barn and giving us this extra space. So now as he naps, I sew, and Daddy is downstairs working in a tractor. Pretty nice way to spend a cold Saturday afternoon.

A little quilting on my new Machine

It's a "new to me"Bernina I bought from a friend who's mother was having to move to assisted living. I haven't sewn on it much yet but decided Sunday to try some machine quilting on this panel I bought for Wade.  He and Daddy can play with the old Matchbox collection Mike still has from his childhood (although he only brought out the banged up ones for now). This machine is about 30+,years newer than my Mom's '79 830 I have always used.  I have a lot to learn and glad Wade won't be inspecting the quilting too closely.

I also have to include these pictures from  Sunday morning. The Langston's sent Wade this shirt and tie and he was hamming it up for the photo session before church.  Too cute!!

Wades First Christmas at Home

The great thing about a first Christmas....is there are no expectations, no let downs when Santa doesn't bring exactly what you want etc.   Wade went to the Christmas Eve service in his red jammies....but didn't make it until the candles were lit. He awoke to us both greeting him at his crib (usually its just Daddy) and didn't know exactly what to do with the toys he found under the tree at first.  But like any little boy it didn't take him long to start checking out the lawn mower and dino-adventurer truck.

We spent a low key day, having lunch with Mike's family and then supper with Mary and her boys.  We both worked on the 24th and 26th due to limited vacation after our trip to China this Spring, but it was all ok and a very sweet first Christmas with a very sweet boy.

I heard Santa won't come if you are awake...so not taking any chances!!!
Daddy and Mommy this early??

Bedtime after a full day of presents, family and food.  The Angel Mom bought for their first Christmas tree sits atop ours...she is a little battered but hopefully will preside over many more Christmases to come.
