Ready for some Christmas movies!

Well not really ready yet, then I would miss Summer and Fall. But when it come time to break out Christmas Vacation we will have a quilt to go with the season. It's been pieced and basted for over two years. I got it quilted at our last retreat and now have used a little of my time this week to get the binding done! This was a
Moda layer cake, Mrs Goodneedle is making its nine patch cousin as she won the matching layer cake in our Bee's gift exchange.

Sunday afternoon

A bike ride and cookout....pretty good way to spend a Sunday afternoon. We celebrated Mary's birthday a few days early and took the boys to Tanglewood to ride bikes. Alden got a new Trek mountain bike for his birthday so we took him into the woods for his first taste of a single track trail. He was tackling the stacked logs, roots, and palette bridges right out of the gate. Actually I am the only one that crashed.

A reminder of our journey

I found these silver beads that say Family and decided to make a his and her bracelet that we can wear until we get home with our little one. I also used some Jade for China. It will help me remember to pray for not only this toddler but the family that had to give them up.

There is a bead/tea room down on Trade street where they helped take my idea and turn it into something we can actually wear!

Met our new TJ Manager

Just met Frank at the Trader Joes in Raleigh. He will be managing the store in Winston. He is expecting to be open in September!

Now we just have about two hours to kill before picking up our certified documents at the secretary of states office. Never been to downtown Raleigh before today. Here is a shot of me and the baby (our notebook of documents)

Two Weeks

I have two weeks before I start my new job so I plan to make the most of the time. My to do list has gotten way too long and I plan to hammer away at it.

I got to pick strawberries with Landon's class Friday while my car got worked on and Saturday made my first batch of jam using an old canner we found at GP's parents house.

I am selling trucks on Craislist and dolls on eBay while running around getting some more adoption paperwork done.

GP hung another quilt block for the Yadkin Quilt Trail on hwy 67 too!

Today will be a flurry and tomorrow my sis and I are headed to Raleigh to get the Secretary of State's office to approve our documents before heading to DC.

This won't be a two week vacation : )

New Chapter

My phone conversation last night with my nephew Alden:

Me:  Hey, where would be the coolest place to work?
Alden:  The Lego Store
Me:  Ok the second coolest place...
Alden:  Krispy Kreme
Me:  I start there in June
Alden:  AWESOME!!!!

I wasn't looking to change jobs, but when approached by the coolest place in town (we don't have a Legos store) how could I turn them down.  I will miss the folks at CMS Insurance (and the 10 mintute commute) but looking very much forward to joining the Krispy Kreme corporate team.
And yes, everyday there are fresh free doughnuts and coffee...I am also joining the Y!

May the 4th be with You!

Marshall is now 15 and Bob will graduate High School in a few weeks, man how time flies.  This was the first of several "Jedi training camps" we held down at Grandaddys.  Dad showed me this great old live oak near the pond that had spanish moss completely encircling it.  We made several stations to work on light saber skills, helping/trusting each other , and the best speeder trainer ever.  The old plastic barrel is still tied up between some trees if you want to take a ride sometime.  Since then we had McKinley (Princess Pampers), Alden, Landon and several other cousin's children all go through the course.  If our little one becomes a Star Wars fan (you can bet I will try my best) we will have another camp in the future. So hope everyone has a very happy Star Wars day!!
