Visit to Grandaddy's

Wade is all about trying to repeat names right now which makes everyone tickled. He couldn't quite get Grandaddy, it sounds like Gray Gray but that's ok.
Here they are discussing Wade's college options.

We also to a stroll across the dam at the pond scouting a place to build a small dock. It will be nice to be able to leave his little boat down there or just fish fr the dock.

There are lots of memories still to be made at the pond as it's ready to now host the fourth generation of little fisherman.

And we can't leave out Norm!  Unlike Banjo he let Wade pet him!

Another quilt show comes and goes

They are every two years but it was easy to see what dominated my last two years. Anticipating Wade's homecoming we started reaching out to family and friends for his 100 wishes quilt. I can't wait to see the corresponding scrapbook my sister and niece have been working on.  Gina Allen custom quilted this for me and Mrs Goodneedle taught me how to add piping to the border. These two things really enhanced this quilt and it received an honorable mention.

I also entered the eye spy that his quilting "aunties" surprised us with after he came home. This one will so be on his toddler bed. I am sadly going to have to soon take down the baby bed.

Ohio quilter has never entered a quilt show but she pieced this one And Mrs Goodneedle quilted it (even using glow in the dark thread). Quiltkeemosabe did the great Peanuts embroidery and Muriel embroidered his name. Others all contributed the fabrics.  All together they got a blue in the group category and Wade loves it too.

It won't be long before he can scramble up a ladder and help take a show down. There will be many car and quilt shows in his future I am sure.

Mothers Day Weekend

We have had a full weekend for sure.

Friday night was our Relay for Life event. Mr Brown ( who lost his daughter Meme to cancer and is a survivor himself ) pushed Wade in the survivor's lap.

Saturday morning we met Mary and her boys to pick strawberries. Wade actually did pretty good at selecting the red ones!!  Landon (who never lets me take a picture) agreed to pose when I explained I needed photos every year to send back to China of Wade learning new things with his family.

Mike and I went to a concert Saturday night and Wade spent the night with Max. He did fine and we hope to host Max soon.

Wade and Mike presented me with hanging baskets for the front porch!

And not a Mother's Day goes by without wishing my Mom were here to see all what has happened in my life in the 12 years she has been gone, I know one thing...she would love Wade. If I am a good mother I owe it to God for blessing me with such a great example.

A day of more firsts...

Wade went to his first cruise in this afternoon. Mike is slowly getting the old Studebaker road worthy again. It's a 61 Lark convertible and the color is Flamingo!  I even found Wade the perfect cruise in Hawaiian shirt (it has old woodies on it) at a local consignment shop for $3!

There was even a car in his size that the owner graciously let him try out.

My first today was sewing on a piped binding. Mrs Goodneedle so graciously gave me a lesson and let me borrow her supplies. This was on my quilting bucket list and think it is going to really add a pop to Wade's 100 wishes quilt. Thank goodness the quilt show is approaching or no telling how long it would have taken me to complete this for him. Now to get the binding stitched down and add the label and sleeve!

Needs time to grow

The Dr thinks we need to let Wade grow before trying to repair his palate again. Daddy and I are all for that!  This was one happy guy to finally get to eat normal foods again. His first day back at daycare was a little tough, Aunt Mary and Daddy are much more fun than school I guess.
