Recharge those batteries

Well not really, physically I was drained but my spirit is full

We were at our lodge in Montreat for our quilting retreat......with our very own red solo cups (wine glass style...Thanks Muriel)

We hiked up to the overlook....even though my back didn't want too, we all felt better for exerting a little energy and streching our legs.

Made a successful trip to one of the largest shoe stores I had ever been in....

Ate great chicken nachos in Biltmore Village, and still had time to get some sewing done.  This little space themed quilt is staying at my house....whether we get a girl or boy, this will be one for them to play with.  I also got a bright quilt top put together for my neice that will turn 13 next spring (she gets to re-do her room so I hope she likes it) and caught up on a few blocks.

Salem Stitcher and I topped the weekend off by meeting David and Go Postal at Merlefest, it was HOT but Allison Krauss and Union Station did a great job closing out the 25th anniversary weekend.

Meet Max

Here is Max and his Mommy Sam with GP and I at the last WS Ski Club meeting.  Like any healthy two year old he doesn't much want to sit still, he is eyeing his next destination.  He has been home about 6 weeks and has already made so much progress getting used to a new life in North Carolina.  We are using the same agency they did and are hoping to be matched with a child from China much like Max later this year. Its hard for me not to already see us all teaching them to ski and going on camping trips in just a few short years.  Whether we get a boy or a girl, I am sure ours and Max will be good buddies.

Way bigger garden

I asked a neighbor to disc up my garden and double its size....well it's about 6 times bigger but I guess that's more for the groundhog. Yes the groundhog or one of its decendents has already been cruising the field waiting to see what I plant. With the new jumbo size we rented a tiller that hooked to Go Postals tractor... It did a great job, now I need to get outside and get the potatoes and seeds in the ground before the rain starts. I think I will hold off on tomato plants as the are still forecasting some frost chances next week.

Beat Banjo

Mom and Dad left me at the vets this weekend because they thought I had a problem with my eye. You can't get any rest when they put us cats in the same room as those lame barking dogs. Glad to be back at my cabin and on the job of homeland security.

Easter 2012

We got to eat at Rays Mill Pond. Meet my newest cousin Steele Blum. See GP's niece Sharon and have a nice visit with Dad and Teen. Teens family was all there too which doesn't happen too often since her Daughter Erin lives in London. We couldn't refuse participating in the adults only egg hunt her seven year old grandson Ben did for us. It was priceless hearing him give us the rules in his British accent. The new truck did well. One tank got us all the way there. We calculated almost 22mpg on the way home and it wasn't all highway miles.

Babymoon Scheduled

Babymoon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Babymoon has several meanings. The original meaning is a period of time that parents spend bonding with a recently-born baby.
More recently the term has come to be used to describe a vacation taken by a couple that is expecting a baby in order to allow the couple to enjoy a final trip together before the many sleepless nights that usually accompany a newborn baby. Babymoons usually take place at a resort that offers appropriate services like prenatal massage.
Babymoon can also be used for a trip taken by a couple even before they get pregnant. As long as the trip is intended to be a final romantic fling before venturing into parenthood, the term babymoon applies.
The term babymoon comes from the more traditional term honeymoon, which is a vacation taken by a newlywed couple after their wedding ceremony.

So maybe ours should be called a Toddlermoon, and I won't need a prenatal massage...although I would glady take a swedish, or sports massage!  We are knocking off another item on the bucket list..to drive the length of he Florida Keys in a convertible.  I found cheap airfare to Ft Lauderdale, and have reserved a mustang for the drive!  So if I am humming a lot of Jimmy Buffet tunes later this Summer you will know I am getting ready for our last get away until the big trip to China.

If you have spent any time down there, we welcome your suggestions!

Quilt spans the love

Not sure Marshall really cared that his Great Great Grandmother pieced this quilt for his Grandmother but I know our Mom would have melted to see this. He certainly isn't the same curly haired four year old she last hugged. At fifteen he is now as tall as Uncle Go Postal!

Ready to Zip

We took McKinley and Marshall to Carolina Zip Lines yesterday for an early birthday celebration for McKinley. It was a fun afternoon and we topped it off with a milkshake on the way home. McKinley will soon be twelve and Marshall is fifteen!  Their Mom decided to pass, and spent the time grading papers in the shelter below.  The last two lines are across a big field so she got to see them as they zipped by.
