Surgery Day for Wade

Our first hurdle was not getting anything to eat this morning until his surgery which was scheduled for 11am. He didn't go back until 11:30 but we were able to keep him distracted with all kinds of toys in Brenner's play room.  The second photo shows him getting groggy with the medicine he was given right before they took him back.

All three surgeons were happy with their results and we were blessed to have Aunt Mary and several from church wait with us.

He was a little combative in recovery and the first several hours in the room was very tough for him. He finally has gotten some longer lasting pain medicine and is sleeping at 9:30. Hopefully tomorrow he will feel like eating as he needs to eat 75% of normal before he can go home

We pray we will see our Happy Wade soon!

Wades first sleepover

I had volunteered to help with the Grand Opening of Krispy Kremes new store in Burlington. Since I needed to leave Boonville about 4am we let Wade spend the night with Aunt Mary and his cousins.

Landon bought a special book about Pandas that he read to him before going to sleep in his room.  Didn't take too long and he was zonked.

The work was fun. There were about150 to 200 people waiting for us to turn on the hot light at 6am. Because Krispy Kreme is such a big supporter of Victory Junction look who showed up to help cut the ribbon. ( I had an STP sticker on my Big Wheel as a little girl by the way)

Finally back in the sewing room!

I was successful in running all my errands this morning and getting Wade to nap in the pac n play in the sewing room. God then sent a heavy rain to hit the metal roof and even though I was tempted to join him for a nap ... I resisted and worked in my $5 block and resumed cutting fabrics for Wade's 100 wishes quilt. I hope has he grows older we get to spend a lot of time out here....him doing homework or watching a DVD while I get to quilt!

Then I suspect there will come a day when he will rather be on the first floor helping data with an old car or tractor.

But for now I get to sew by lamplight!

Welcome Home Joe

Our nephew returned from Afghanistan. That's the good news. The bad is that he has been really sick the last few months and lost a lot of weight. The army doctor decided he better get home and get treated. We are very proud of him (there was a photo of him accepting a bronze star before leaving) and now hope he can make a full recovery. His Mom and Dad are sure happy too, they flew to Texas to meet his plane. Wade may get to meet his oldest cousin soon now!

Topsail Beach

Wade got to see the ocean for the first time this week and he loved it. He wasn't scared of the waves at all and loved pushing his small wagon around in the sand.

He also had a ball playing with his cousins. For the first time he actually asked to get down from the dinner table by signaling all done. He saw the others going out on the porch and didn't want to miss out on the fun.

We also gave Dad a half day fishing trip for Father's Day and we caught enough for supper for the entire crowd!

I think Wade enjoyed his first 4th of July as a citizen although he couldn't stay awake for the fireworks!
