Bibs!

Thanks Mrs Goodneedle and Ohio Stitcher, with your help we will give 20 babies in China a handmade bib of their own. These are in the mail to Love Without Boundaries for their next trip to do cleft lip surgeries.

This was a free pattern from Heather Bailey

I kept one for Wade so I could see how the PUL fabric holds up to multiple washings. Out friend Sam is working with him to try to swallow more, but for now I have my very own slobber monkey.

"Every Stitch you sew on Sunday...

.....you will rip out nine on Monday". That is what my Great Grandmother Hamm told my Mom often as a little girl.  She taught my Mom how to sew and Mom taught me so I respect her a lot....and even wear her diamond as a part of my engagement ring. But, I bet sewing was seen as a chore back then and not the creative therapy it is to me.

So after church and A Mexican lunch....Wade does this
And I get to do this......
Block #7 done for the month (this is the start of a camper quilt for Wade).

A start on making bibs for Love without boundaries as they travel to China to repair the lips of cleft babies

And finally done the last block in the Civil War $5 quilt from Sew Original a few years back. I was traumatized one year in a class at Mid Atlantic trying to piece a curved seam so I machine appliquéd them instead.  I plan on making a big quilt for our bed with these and the signature blocks the guild gave me the year I was President (also Civil War fabrics)

And since I almost never get to stitch through the week....maybe this saying won't apply.

Fat Quarter Bag

I am about seven to ten years behind everyone that we're making these bags....a friend told me you could carry a child around in them they were so big!

We'll Shhhh this one is going to Aunt Kim for her birthday. She would probably like it if I shipped Wade along with it for a few nights anyway.

Now that I have made one I may have to look through my other fabric and make some more. What a great bag for a college student maybe made out of their school's colors...

Therapy for Banjo or Wade?

Wade and I tried sitting on one side of the gate while Mike had Banjo on the other. Trying to teach Wade to be still and quiet if he wants Banjo to be his friend. We still have a lot of work to do to say the least.

Snow in two States

When we left Snowmass last week Wade and I said goodbye to the snow or so we thought. We got about 15" at the cabin and enough to shut down the city this week.

Working from home with a 2 year old is challenging to say the least but I still got some things done and spent a little time outside trying to convince him snow is fun!

I never dreamed when I bought my Explorer in 2002 that I would someday live back in the woods on a gravel driveway but I was sure grateful I had it.

So here are some images from our trip and subsequent snow day.
Still crying, didn't like sledding in Snowmass or here at home!

Picture perfect out the kitchen window
It's never too early to establish a good work ethic!

China brothers and the youngest members of the ski club....they got the fleece to prove it!
Wade got to ride the gondola and meet us on the slopes the last day, I think he will change his tune about snow in a year or two and be ready to try skiing!
