Back On Line!

In between sewing my $5 block (with a friend who is learning to quilt from square one) I set up my new home computer. So far it has worked flawlessly, finding the proper drivers for the printer and connecting to the internet. The only sad thing is that my 8 year old curved keyboard doesn't have a USB end...so I can't use it on this new box. How sad. I love the curved key board, I also use one at work and it helps me type more accurately and is less fatigue on my wrists. But for now...I am back online at home. Too bad its bedtime...I have facebook friend invitations to accept, party photos to upload and all kinds of catching up to do.
So here is Go Postal and I at the 80's party....we had a lot of fun and I know little sister will not soon forget her Dad and both Sisters out on the dance floor ushering in her 4oth.

No Snow Day for Me

We probably had about 5" of snow at my house last night...and I had just filled the bird feeder before leaving this weekend. I came in a little tardy so I could enjoy all the colorful birds against this pretty back drop. The new computer is in but I have to pick it up at the Fed Ex depot...so maybe soon I can share pictures of this weekend's 80's dance party.

So no snow day for me, but at least I have a pretty view from the office window (a little less impressive than the real thing due to my camera phone shooting this through glass, but you get the idea)

Still Waiting

Dell pushed out the ship date for my new computer another week...don't know if they are waiting on a part or have cut their capacity back but its frustrating not having access to the internet at home.
Here is a fun shot of my hair...straight. It has never been straight before, but my hairdresser has been wanting to do this for a while and since we were headed out to see Willie Nelson Saturday night I let her play. It took her about 30 minutes, I know I will never have the patience or skill to do it myself. This was taken while Go Postal and I were waiting for our Pizza at "Sticks and Stones" prior to the concert. Willie was fun, a very diverse crowd I must say.
Next I have to complete our 80's look for little sister's big 40th bash this weekend. Go Postal will sport the Sonnny Crocket look from Miami Vice and I am going to attempt to pull off a mini skirt and banana clip. We will take pictures of this one for sure.

What a Week

Go Postal and I (and the other 22 folks from the ski club) had one of our best ski trips EVER! Steamboat is known for their legendary powder and on Wednesday we got to experience about 14" of it at the summit. Mrs Goodneedle and I laughed that it was like high loft polyester batting! I will post more pictures later (the new home computer has been ordered and Dell should be shipping it later this week). We all returned safe and with big smiles on our faces.

I was even treated to a sleigh ride and steak dinner in a heated teepee for Valentines Day the night before we left.

Yesterday I got to see the progress on Go Postal's new car barn. The footings and block were completed while we were away. Foreman Banjo is back on the job now...inspecting the work and ridding the site of any unwanted rodents.

Computer Woes

I will have to be quiet for a little while. My computer at home is on its last legs. I have bought an external hard drive and think I have time to copy over all my pictures/music/tax returns before I give up on it all together. I will have to wait until I return from Steamboat to get a new one up and running. In the mean time I will have to limit my blogging (since the work computer is my only access). I now have to decide if I get another desktop (the best value) or go for the portability of a laptop.

We had a great Bee retreat. I have the Relay for Life quilt all ready to go and got a lot done on other projects too. I didn't even take one picture all weekend so I will follow up with some later.

Now its time to get some major projects wrapped up at work, pick up the freshly tuned skis, and get a pedicure (you don't want to tempt fate...you are more likely to get hurt if you don't shave your legs and have nasty feet). I will try to borrow someone's laptop on the trip and post a few shots.

Fortune Cookie

My fortune cookie today said "This weekend will bring you a suprise" I hope its a good surprise and not a bad one. I am off with my quilting buddies for a short retreat, so who knows...that group can get a little crazy!

A Quilter's Send Off

Go Postals BIL lost his 95 year old grandmother over the weekend. As I read her obituary I learned about her very full life. One thing it mentioned was her love of quilting. But what a great image when we went to the visitation....her casket was covered with one of her quilts...a Cathedral Window instead of flowers. All four of her daughters also quilted and they noticed my quilted log cabin pin on my coat (and probably me pausing a little longer over her quilt than others). They immediately told me about all the quilts she made for family and church members over the years. Its great how we quilters can so quickly connect.
I remembered back to my mother's visitation. There were lots of folks I had never met before, but her quilt guild friends announced who they were and quickly offered to finish any projects that she may have in progress.....you just don't get that kind of warmth from most!!
